Wrangling Words is a free community workshop to promote literary art and will be offered Tuesday, July 9th at 7pm at the Craftsbury Public Library. Developed by Charli Mills, the one-hour program teaches any level of writer from novice to advanced how to use the literary form of flash fiction (99 words, no more, no less) as a writing tool. Learn to write like the myth of Hemingway. Create stories, scenes, and novels 99 words at a time.

Charli Mills inspires and curates an online writing community called Carrot Ranch, and is leading writing retreats in northern Vermont this summer. She joins local author D. Avery, author of the short story and flash fiction collection After Ever, in reading flash fiction at the Galaxy Bookshop on Tuesday, July 16th at 7 PM.

What does literary art look like at Carrot Ranch? It’s short-form micro-fiction, for certain. It’s playful. It’s encouraging, and provocative dialog about the art created or its process of creation. The literature at Carrot Ranch includes weekly collections of flash fiction thoughtfully arranged to express and explore a topic. It also includes the works of individuals: novels of multiple genres, short stories, essays, poetry, articles, book reviews, substantial blog posts, and creative works for educators."
