Craftsbury Big Tree Contest 2022

The Craftsbury Conservation Commission and the Craftsbury Public Library are partnering to host a Big Tree Contest for our town, which will run from August 15th through September 30th. We hope this contest will encourage community members to get outside exploring the trees in Craftsbury and help us to honor the important role trees play in our ecosystem.

How can I participate? Walk in your woods or in one of our town forests in search of large trees. Measure up from the ground 4 feet and 6 inches. At this height, measure around the tree trunk to determine the circumference in inches. Next, fill out and submit a paper entry form located at the Craftsbury Public Library. Each submission should include your name, location (optional), tree species, and circumference. Photos (optional, but encouraged) should be submitted to Liz Keglor at Keglors@yahoo.com.

On October 8th, at the Craftsbury Farmers’ Market, we will display photos of some of Craftsbury’s big trees and award prizes! Special thanks to the following individuals and local businesses for their generous donations: C Village Store, The Genny, Craftsbury Public Library, Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Pete’s Greens, Green Village Soap, Moffatt’s Tree Farm, Dave Brown, Bee Love Herbals.
